Get ready for an exciting basketball season at Hinkle Fieldhouse, where a massive transformation is underway! The iconic arena is gearing up with a state-of-the-art video board, promising an immersive fan experience.
Spanning over 2,700 square feet, the new LED video board is just the beginning of a series of upgrades. Imagine vibrant ribbon boards, a sleek scoreboard above the energetic Dawg Pound, and even video screens in the restrooms! But here's where it gets controversial...
These enhancements are part of a strategic partnership with PlayFly Sports, a multimedia rights company. PlayFly works with schools nationwide to manage digital signage, radio, and social media, maximizing ad revenue potential.
Athletic Director Grant Leiendecker, with his vision to create the ultimate college basketball atmosphere, has teamed up with PlayFly's General Manager, Kyle James, to bring this vision to life.
"Grant wants the best atmosphere in college basketball," James shared. "We're crafting a unique fan experience with these new assets, but also aiming to generate new revenue. The camera angles behind the basket offer prime advertising spots."
Leiendecker's goal extends beyond revenue; he aims to enhance the overall fan engagement and game day excitement at Hinkle. "Our previous video boards were outdated, installed over a decade ago, before even air conditioning was available. The new technology allows for more creative game day experiences."
The additional revenue generated from these ad spaces will be reinvested into athletics, ensuring Butler stays competitive in the dynamic NIL landscape.
Even the players are feeling the buzz! First-year men's basketball forward, Bryson Cardinal, raves, "It's awesome. It brings more life to the arena."
