When asked about his last message to Horner, Perez simply stated, “Thank you so much for everything. And I'm very sorry for anyone who comes here, because it will cost them a lot.” This poignant farewell hints at the difficulties faced by drivers trying to compete alongside Verstappen, who wields significant influence over the car's setup and development.
Horner himself didn't last long either, being ousted as team principal midway through the 2025 campaign.
Perez, now sidelined for the current season, has already secured a drive for 2026 with the new Cadillac team, signaling a fresh start and a new chapter in his career.
Despite the challenging end to his Red Bull tenure, Perez viewed the decision to part ways as a positive one. He stated, “What happened with Red Bull, in the end, I knew it was the best thing that could have happened to me, because being at Red Bull and the conditions I found myself in were very demanding. And all the drivers who have arrived and those who will arrive will continue to have the same problems because it's a very complex car to drive, where you have to constantly adapt to Verstappen's style.”
