What is the password for the Montgomery County library? ›

The default password the library sets is the 4 digits of your birth year. We encourage you to customize your password, which can be 4 to 10 characters long, to protect your library account.

Borrowing Materials. With a Regular Library Card, you can: Borrow up to 100 items.

Similar to programs offered by many libraries with their physical collections, Lucky Day delights patrons who find and borrow these special copies of popular titles. These fast-circulating copies have no wait lists, can't be renewed, and can have shorter lending periods to maximize their impact in your collection.

Make a Suggestion for the Collection

MCPL welcomes suggestions for new materials. Individual purchase decisions are guided by the MCPL's selection policy and availability of funds. To make a suggestion, log into your account and click on Purchase Suggestions in the left sidebar. A valid MCPL library card is required.

Your Personal Identification Number (or "PIN") is, by default, the last four digits of the phone number associated with your library card (usually the number you entered on your library card application).

Understanding the numbers

The first sections of the call number represent the subject of the book. The letter-and-decimal section of the call number typically represents the author's last name. The last section of a call number is often the date of publication.

Lucky Day books are extra copies of popular titles—you won't find them listed in the catalog, aside from copies that are currently checked out, so you have to visit the library in person and look on the shelf to see if it is your Lucky Day.

Besides the 16-item quota for physical materials, users will still be able to borrow up to 16 e-books, bringing the total number of what they can check out to 32. The loan period for each item remains at 21 days.

50 total Items per Card: Any combination of Books, Best Seller, Lucky Day Books, Magazines, DVDs, CDs & Audiobooks. For your convenience, items will be automatically renewed after 10:00 a.m. on their due date if they are eligible for renewal. Items not eligible for renewal include: Items with holds.
